办公室英语笔记（2）：闲暇之余去健身

    一、健身房运动词汇

    1、treadmill 跑步机、单调乏味的工作

    My doctor suggests （me） running on the treadmill three times a week.

    医生建议我一周在跑步机上跑三次。

    When I run on the treadmill ten minutes seems like for ever.

    当我在跑步机上跑时十分钟就像是一辈子

    2、work out = workout 健身运动n&v，解决

    I haven't worked out for one month / all month，what a waste of my gym membership.

    刚做完运动可以说I had a great workout.

    3、warm up（运动前）热身，cool down（运动后慢慢）缓和

    A ten minutes' warm up is necessary before starting strenuous workout.（剧烈的运动）

    4、personal trainer健身教练 = fitness trainer

    I see my personal trainer three times a week .

    我每星期见我的健身教练3次

    It cost me an arm and a leg . 花了我大价钱。

    5、yoga 瑜伽

    I have yoga classes twice a week= I have two yoga classes one week.

    After doing yoga I always feel relax.

    =After doing yoga I always feel a lot more relax.每次做完瑜珈后我都感觉非常放松。

    6、aerobic有氧的adj，aerobics有氧运动n

    My fitness trainer asked me to do thirty minutes' aerobics everyday.

    My fitness trainer suggests doing aerobics thirty minutes everyday.

    7、cycling飞轮有氧 ，cycle 循环

    We should take a cycling class together sometime .

    我们应该找一天一起去参加飞轮有氧课。

    8、tennis网球

    Do you want to play tennis with me？

    二、办公室词汇

    1、Are you busy？= In the middle of sth？ 正在忙吗？

    gossip 八卦

    2、What are you doing ？= What are you up to？你正在做什么（工作）呢？

    What are you up to？ 语气不同，含义不同

    你在搞什么鬼啊？

    What are you up to ？（工作）进展如何？

    What are you up to these days？你最近在忙什么？

    What are you up to after you get off work？你下班后干什么呀？

    3、get off 脱下、摆脱、下车、从……下来

    get off work下班

    office treadmill单调的坐班工作

    I can‘t get off office treadmill.

    I normally get off （work） at 6：00.

    = I usually get off work at 6：00 . 我通常6点钟下班。

    often=normally=usually=always

    4、Can you just give me a ballpark figure？

    ballpark figure大概数字ballpark=ballpark figure

    I need a ballpark of the revenue last year.

    5、bottom line最重要的是，最后底线

    We have to turn into profit by 2009.我们要在2009年扭亏为盈。

    We have to ship this order by Friday.我们必须在周五前交货。

    The new CFO was sent to bring the company out of the red.

    新的财政部长被送到公司拯救财政赤字。

    in the red赔钱，in the black赚钱

    lose money=unprofitable亏损，make money = profitable 盈利的

    The company is making money/profitable 这个公司是盈利的。

    nonprofit 非盈利性质的，nonprofit organization非盈利组织

    6、call in sick  打电话请病假

    sick leave=medical leave 病假

    I need a sick leave for two days.

    I need a personal leave. 事假

    7、I just heard that three people / person would be laid off next month.

    我刚听说下个月会有三个人被解雇。

    lay off 动词下岗、解雇，   layoff名词解雇、下岗

    8、three shifts三班制，two shifts两班制

    We have to work in three shifts to keep the company running.

    我们必须轮三班来保持公司的运转。

    day shift / regular shift 白班，night shift夜班

    9、nine-to-five 朝九晚五（的工作），nine-to-fiver朝九晚五的上班族

    I'm a regular nine-to-five.我是一个 朝九晚五的上班族。

    I don't want to be a nine-to-five for the whole life / for the rest of my life.

    我不想一辈子做朝九晚五的工作。

    10、overtime 加班，加时赛（运动中），加班费

    I refuse to work over time on weekend.

    I refuse to work over time during the weekend.我拒绝在周末加班。

    You have to pay me overtime. 加班费

    You have to pay me double time.双倍工资

    If you pay me double time ，I'll do it.如果你付我双倍工资，我就做。

    time and one-half = time and a half 一倍半的工资。
