Chinese shares closed down 1.81 percent on Friday amid worries over volatility in the US stock market and weak first quarter corporate earnings, dealers said. The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index, which covers A and B shares, fell 38.40 points to 2,082.85 on turnover of 98.1 billion yuan (14.4 billion dollars). The Shanghai A-share index shed 40.08 points, or 1.80 percent, to 2,186.63 on turnover of 97.7 billion yuan, while the Shenzhen A-share index lost 32.63 points, or 4.49 percent, to 693.53 on turnover of 50.4 billion yuan. |
