美国威力塔斯学校12月第3周周刊

　　周日晚，美国威力塔斯学校请到了校董事会执行董事介文清先生为高年级同学们讲授公共演讲技巧。介总从事管理工作20余年，有着丰富的领导和演讲经验，同时他更深谙公共演讲技能在职业发展当中的重要性。介老师为同学们讲解了很多实用的演讲技巧及策略，并且让同学们上台来练习和展示自己的演讲风采。

　　Sunday night we invited Mr. Victor Jie, the executive officer from our commission board, to give a lecture to our tenth and eleventh grade students on how to give presentations and improve their public speaking skills. Mr. Jie, who has over 20 years of leadership experience aswell as strong public speaking skills, knew the importance of practicing this skill regularly. To that end, Mr. Jie taught our juniors and sophomores a lotof practical skills and strategies in both of these areas. Students were thenasked to give their own speech in front of peers to demonstrate what they learned during his visit.

　　历史课上，乔世界老师给七八年级的学生上了一堂关于古埃及历史的课。他重点讲了亚历山大以及他以少胜多的战役。孩子们听得入神，学得也非常用心。

　　Mr.Kelsor lectured the 7th and 8th grade students about ancient Egyptian history in Thursday’s Omnibus class. The students were very excited to learn about the great Macedonian king Alexander, and his satisfying victories against overwhelming odds throughout the ancient world.

　　十年级的修辞学课程主要围绕一个争议的话题：“中国是否应该废除死刑制度”，来让同学们展开传统式的辩论。辩论双方的同学通过大量的调查来获取支持自己观点的材料，并且展示了双方的精彩陈词。

　　In grade 10 this week the rhetoric classs harpened their debate skills using a very controversial topic. That topic was,“Should the death penalty be prohibited at China?” Students went on to researchand collect supporting materials on their own and eventually argue differentstatements from both sides of the issue.

　　本周的高年级戏剧课程，Service老师指导同学们排练和预演了索福克勒斯(古希腊悲剧诗人)的经典之作“俄狄浦斯王”节选。

　　This week Ms. Service is leading our tenth and eleventh grade students in rehearsasl for an upcoming full length drama performance. This semester students are preparing and practicing to present the classical drama “OedipusRex”by Sophocles.

　　连续两次斩获纪律奖!11年级的学生们，干得好!披萨派对正在向我们招手!把握机会继续加油!十年级本周也获得了卫生奖，在班长Ricky的积极带领下，班级呈现了崭新的面貌!

　　Double killed honor of positive discipline team! Good job you did, grade 11 students. The pizza party is waving to us! Seize the chance and cheer up!　In addition to that, the tenth grade gets the sanitation award for the week! The classroom got its new look under monitor Ricky's lead.

　　本周四，作为威力塔斯学校代表，九年级的倪壮壮，十年级的齐敬喆，以及十一年级的王宇飞三位同学与加拿大班及西班牙班的同学们组成了国际班联队，共同征战大峪中学举办的篮球比赛。今天小伙子们表现的非常出色，齐敬喆和倪壮壮同学分别贡献了多次精彩助攻和抢断，王宇飞同学无疑是今天场上的投手和团队灵魂，他为团队单独砍下至少12分。最终，国际班联队以23比16大比分获胜。

　　Thursday, our students Jim from grade 9, Jackson from grade 10, and will from grade 11, as representatives of Veritas,are invited to the international joint team with students from Canadian and Spanish school to basketball contest held by Dayu Middle school. Our boys did afantastic job. Jackson and Jim provided many excellent moments of secondary attacks and defense. Will definitely is the MVP in the entire match who hasgained at least 12 scores for the team. We eventually won the game with a big score 23 to 16.
