| When are visiting hours? 可能你也有过到医院探病的经验，当你千里迢迢或者下班后赶去医院探病，但到达时已过了探病时间，所以最好事前先问清楚探病时间：When are visiting hours? (探病时间是何时呢?)，同时也要注意有特别规定，例如：No visitors allowed (不淮探病) / Only two visitors per patient (每位病人只准两位访客探访)等等。 对 话 Martin: Excuse me nurse, can you tell me something? Nurse: Certainly. What can I do to help? Martin: I want to see my friend and make him feel better. When are visiting hours? Nurse: Well if he's in here you can see him any time but your visit won't make him feel any different I assure you. Martin: What do you mean I know I can cheer him up? Nurse: Sir, this is the maternity ward and all our patients here are in the same condition. Pregnant! You must have the wrong floor. 马田：护士小姐，请问一下可以吗？ 护士：可以，有什么可以为你效劳？ 马田：我想去探望我的朋友，请问探病时间是何时呢？ 护士：假如他在这里，你可随时探望他，但我肯定你探望他也不能令他好过。 马田：你是什么意思？我知道我可以让他高兴。 护士：先生，这里是产房，所有病人都是孕妇，你一定是找错地方了。 马田问护士：When are visiting hours?医院、监狱等的探望时间，叫visiting hours或visiting times。护士可以对马田说：Visiting times/hours are from 3:00 to 6:00pm（探病时间是下午三时到六时）。 不过，护士发觉马田找错了病房，就说：This is the maternity ward. All the patients here are in the same condition（这是产科病房，里面病人情况都是一样）。Condition可以指‘健康情况’或‘长期的疾病’，例如：(1) His condition continues to improve（他的健康继续好转）。(2) He was treated for a heart condition（他接受心脏病治疗）。说某人患了肺病、皮肤病、肝病、精神病等，英文是He has a lung/skin/liver/mental condition。 Ward是病房。除了产科病房，还有medical ward（内科病房）、surgical ward（外科病房）、isolation ward（隔离病房）、emergency ward（急诊病房）。加护病房则叫intensive care unit，也可叫intensive care ward，例如：He has been transferred from the surgical ward to the intensive care unit（他已从外科病房转往加护病房）。 留意in here这个说法。文法上，你可以说The patients here are in the same condition，也可以说The patients in here等，但in here有‘这里面’含义，here则只是‘这里’。例如在密不透风的房间里，你可以说：It is very hot in here（这里很热）；在烈日当空的沙漠上，则应说：It is very hot here。 |
