| My computer won't boot up. 对 话 Hank: Could you help me with my computer? Gene: Why, what's the matter? Hank: Well my computer won't boot up. Gene: Is it switched on at the wall? Hank: Well I'm not that stupid. Gene: OK, let me get at it and I'll see what I can do. Hank: Do you think it could be something serious? Gene: I hope not, but it could be, like a hard disk failure for example. 汉克：可以帮我弄弄这台计算机吗？ 吉恩：哦，有什么问题？ 汉克：计算机无法启动。 吉恩：墙上的开关开了没有？ 汉克：我还不至于那么愚蠢。 吉恩：好吧，待我试试，看能不能把它弄妥。 汉克：你看，计算机是不是出了大问题？ 吉恩：希望不是，但也未必没有可能。比如说，可能是硬盘出现故障。 你的计算机无法启动，英文可以说：My computer won't boot up/boot/start up/start。计算机启动时会发出‘叽’一声，所以boot其实是个拟声字(onomatopoeia)。 Boot (up)和start (up)用法相同；计算机作boot (up)或start (up)的主词(subject)或受词(object)都可以，例如：(1) My computer takes less than one minute to boot (up)（我的计算机一分钟之内就可以启动）。(2) I booted (up) my computer and started to work（我启动计算机，开始工作）。 有时，由于死机或其它原因，你要重新启动计算机，英文叫reboot，例如：(1) The computer must be rebooted after you have changed your user ID/user name（你更改用户名称之后，必须重新启动计算机）。(2) The computer will reboot, and you will see a new log-in prompt（计算机重新启动之后，你会看到新的登入提示）。除了reboot，你还可说restart，例如：Restarting the (computer) system will mean that what you have not saved will be lost（重新开机，你未保存的一切就会消失）。 计算机启动之后，往往还要‘登入’某个网页，这叫做log in或log on，例如：Somebody must have changed the password. I cannot log in/on to our home page（一定是有人更改了密码，我无法登入我们网页）。 ‘注销’是log off或log out，注销后‘关机’叫shut down the computer，例如：After saving the file, I closed it, logged off/out, and shut down the computer（我存盘、关闭了档案，就注销计算机系统，然后关机）。 |
