A German airline has offered to pay its passengers compensation if their summer holidays are blighted by rain. Lufthansa’s new "sunshine insurance" deal means that German travellers can claim £17 for each day that at least 5mm of rain falls during their break. The money is paid back once jetsetters make an official claim after returning home. The scheme will be valid on flights booked between now and August 18 to Barcelona, Cairo, Dubai, Rome and Washington. A Lufthansa spokeswoman confirmed that British tourists will be unable to benefit from the deal. She told the Daily Express: "It is those based in Germany, booking in Germany on flights out of Germany who get the insurance. There is nothing like this for the UK." |
