    Text A How Old Is She ？

    A woman was having some trouble with her heart， so she went to see
the doctor. He was a new doctor ， and did not know her. So he first asked
some questions， and one of them was："How old are you？" 一位妇女的心
脏有问题，所以她去看医生。这是一位新医生，他对她不了解。所以他先问了一
些问题，其中一个是：“你几岁了？”

    "Well ，" she answered："I don't remember ， doctor ， but I will
try to think. "She thought for a minute and then said ，"Yes. I remember
now ， doctor ！ When I married ， I was eighteen years old ， and my
husband was thirty. Now my husband is sixty ， I know. And that is twice
thirty. So I am twice eighteen. That is thirty-six， isn't it ？ "“唔，”

    她回答：“我不记得了，医生，但我会试着去想。”她想了一会儿说，“是
的，我记起来了，医生！我结婚的时候，我是18岁，我的丈夫是30岁。现在我知
道丈夫60岁了。那正好是30的两倍。所以我也是18的两倍。那就是36岁，不是吗？”

    A ： Hello， 332440. A：你好，332440.

    B ： Oh hello ， Sally. This is Dave Thomson here. Could I speak to
Jim please？

    B ：哦，你好，Sally.我是Dave Thomson. 请让Jim 接电话好吗？

    A ： I'm afraid he's not in at the moment Dave. He went out about

    A ： Well ， he shouldn't be long. He said he was just going to get

    B ： OK ， well ， tell him I've called ， will you ？ And I'll try

    B ： Thanks ， then Sally ， goodbye. B ：谢谢Sally ，再见。

    Accident

    The river ， you see， was never really safe at that time of the year-
