黑利伯瑞致小学部家长的一封信

    　Dear parents and families,

　　亲爱的家长们：

　　With three more weeks until the May week-long holiday, the primary school is a hive of activity. Teachers are busy administering their mid-semester examinations, organising their reports and preparing for our parent meetings. The students are working hard at achieving their personal best, but enjoying the many festive Easter activities too. It is an exciting, but busy time for everyone. Please enjoy reading this fortnight’s bulletin, which provides you with a unique insight into the workings of our primary sub-school.

　　距离五一假期还有三周多的时间，小学部的各种活动正在热火朝天地进行中。老师们积极筹备期中考试、撰写报告、准备家长会等事宜，学生们则在尽情享受丰富的复活节活动的同时，也不忘努力复习考试，期待突破自我。忙碌与快乐是每个人的主旋律。请认真阅读本期公告，我们将会与您分享小学分部工作的信息。

　　This week your child is taking their mid-semester examinations in English, Chinese and Mathematics. The Chinese and Mathematics examinations will be administered on Thursday. We have deliberately structured time within our Thursday timetable for students to quietly study towards these examinations and take a well-earned rest between them. Throughout this week your child’s International Teacher will administer different components of their examination: Speaking and Listening, Reading and Viewing and Writing. A lot of the English examination needs to be administered through a one on one conversation. This takes time, but rich information about your child’s learning needs is observed during these sessions.

　　本周学生们会迎来语文、数学、英语三门期中考试。语文和数学考试会在周四进行。我们会在当天为孩子们制定合理的时间表，保证他们可以安静复习、专心考试，同时也能好好休息，劳逸结合。外教将会负责不同的考试项目，包括口语与听力、阅读观察与写作。许多英语考试项目都是一对一进行，虽然更为耗时，但却能够为孩子的针对性教学提供更加丰富的信息，以便查漏补缺。

　　At the conclusion of the examinations, teachers will then moderate and grade your child’s paper. Your child’s grade will be communicated to you through a report. On this report you will also receive commentary from all your child’s subject teachers about their learning progress. Please read the teachers’ commentaries carefully and open-mindedly. The teachers not only report on your child’s test scores, but they will share with you other skills, knowledge and thinking, which is not captured during an examination. In other words, your child’s examination score is not their only predictor of their current and future learning success.

　　考试结束后，教师们会进行阅卷判分。学生成绩会以报告的形式提供给您。在这份报告中，您还可以看到各科老师对其学习情况的评价，烦请放宽心态认真阅读。除了考试成绩，老师们还会和您分享一些孩子们的其他突出技能、知识储备与思维能力等，这些都是无法在试卷中体现的。换言之，考试成绩并不是孩子目前学习状况以及未来成就的评判标准。

　　To provide you with the bigger picture of your child’s learning progress, parent and teacher meetings have been scheduled over the next few weeks. In these meetings both the teacher and parent will have an opportunity to discuss learning achievements, challenges and goals for the remainder of the semester. These meetings will also provide you with the opportunity to view your child’s learning through the work that they have produced. You will also have an opportunity to ask specific questions about your child, which in a group parent meeting are not possible. Interpretation support will be available in all meetings. Soon, information will be communicated to you describing how you can book into these meetings with all subject teachers.

　　为了让您对孩子的学习情况有更加深入的了解，未来几周学校还会组织教师与家长见面会。在见面会上，您可以就下半学期的学习成果、挑战以及目标与老师进行讨论，可以通过学习成果了解孩子的学习情况，还可以针对孩子具体情况对老师进行咨询，这是普通的集体家长会无法比拟的。所有见面会都将配备口译服务。随后我们会将如何与学科老师预约见面会的信息发送给您，敬请期待。

　　Easter is an important calendar event in the Western world. It is a religious festival and holiday celebrated by Christians and many other cultures alike. Easter celebrates the resurrection of Jesus from the dead. The story of Easter is well-known. In the Western world, Easter is celebrated in many ways. Over the next few weeks we will teach our students how we celebrate Easter and enjoy the many traditions and customs that go with it. When teaching our students about cultural and religious events, we always present an open-dialogue that respects all families’ beliefs and values. We always present information to our students in a safe, supportive and caring environment.

　　复活节，是一个由基督教徒及其他相似文化背景的人们共同庆祝的宗教节日，在西方国家有着举足轻重的地位。有关它的故事想必大家都耳熟能详，节日旨在庆祝耶稣从死里复活，庆祝方式更是多种多样。在未来的几周里，我们将会教孩子们如何通过各种传统风俗来进行节日庆祝。同时也会始终尊重所有家庭的信仰和价值观，在安全、包容和关爱的环境下向学生输送知识的养分。

　　It may be a busy time, but it is also a very exciting time to be learning within the primary sub-school. Examinations, assessment and reporting provide an opportunity for everybody in the primary school community to reflect on the fantastic teaching and learning programs we provide. I know that all students have made learning progress in many areas. We look forward to seeing you at our forthcoming parent meetings and reporting to you on the progress we have observed your child making.

　　小学部的生活就是这样忙碌并快乐。每个人都有机会通过这次的考试、评估和报告，来回顾学校的优良教学课程。我知道所有学生在诸多领域进步良多。期待在即将举行的家长会上与您相见，届时我们会向您报告您孩子学习进展的详细情况。
