I've been laid off. I've been laid off. I've been fired./I've been sacked. (我被解雇)/I got a pink slip. Wife: Hi, sweetheart, how was your day? Husband: Terrible. I've been laid off. They're blaming the economy but I don't believe them. I think it's personal. Wife: But you are the boss aren't you? Husband: I know, but the workers said that because I'm so inept they had to get rid of me to keep their jobs. It was a mutiny. Wife: Never trust a bunch of pirates, honey. They're blaming the economy but I think it's personal. They said I'm inept(他们说是经济原因,但我认为是针对我。 They blamed me for their failure、They blamed their failure on me、They put/laid the blame for their failure on me(他们失败了,就把责任归咎于我)。留意第一、二句的blame是动词,用‘blame somebody for something’或‘blame something on somebody’句式;第三句的blame是名词,用‘put/lay the blame for something on somebody’句式。 (1) When I said you made a mistake, it was not intended to be personal(我说你犯了错,可不是有意针对你)。(2) His remarks on my proposal are getting increasingly personal.(他对我那个建议的评论,越来越带人身攻击意味)。 从前,说she is an ept secretary之类,会被视为错误。 |
