| I’m as sick as a dog. 之前教过大家如果身体非常健康，可以说，I feel on top of the world，相反，如果病得很厉害，英文有句有趣的说法:I’m as sick as a dog.(我病得很严重)或者说:I’m really sick/I feel very ill/I feel rotten(我感到不舒服)。 对话 Kate: What are you doing here? I thought you never got sick. Marcus: I feel terrible. I’m as sick as a dog. Kate: So what is it? Flu, a stomach bug or something else? Marcus: I told you I’m as sick as a dog. I have a very warm nose, I can’t chase cars and I just want to curl up and sleep in a basket. Kate: You’re in the wrong waiting room. The vet’s office is next door. 凯伊: 你在这里干什么?我以为你从来不会生病。 马卡斯: 我觉得很不对劲，我病得很厉害。 凯伊: 是什么病?流感、胃病还是其它? 马卡斯: 我已告诉你我病得像条狗，我的鼻子很暖，不能追车子，我只想卷成一团睡在篮子里。 凯伊: 你来错了候诊室，兽医在隔壁。 马卡斯说自己病了:I'm as sick as a dog。凯伊问他换了什么病:Flu, a stomach bug or something else? Bug本是‘小昆虫’，There are bugs everywhere in the kitchen即‘厨房里满是小昆虫’。俚语引申其义，把细菌(germ) 也称为bug，例如:If you are suffering from flu, you should wear a mask, or you will breathe your bugs on others (假如你患了感冒,就应该戴口罩，否则呼吸会把细菌传给别人)。 由细菌引起的疾病，也叫做bug，通常是指小病，例如: Tom was in bed with a flu bug(汤姆患了感冒,卧病在床)。Stomach bug或tummy bug是‘胃病’，a 24-hour bug则是‘一天之内痊愈的疾病’。 As sick as a dog直译是‘病的像一条狗一样’。Sick有‘生病’、‘作呕’的意思，狗生病时常会剧烈呕吐，所以这成语是指‘病得很重’或‘吐得厉害’，sick之前的as可以略去，例如I was (as) sick as a dog, so I was unable to sit the examination. (我病得厉害,无法参加考试)。 要表示病得厉害，英文还有一个很传神的说法:Like death warmed up(像加了热的死人),例如:I'm feeling like death warmed up; I'm afraid I've to take sick leave.(我感到很不舒服，恐怕得请病假)。小病则可用queer(奇怪的)或funny(古怪的)两字形容，例如:I felt queer/funny after lunch, and went to see the doctor. (我午饭后感到有点不舒服,去看医生)。 |
