| My mouse has stopped working. 对话 Danny: What's the matter this time? Fred: Don't look at me like that. My mouse has stopped working, so I can't use my computer. And I've got a lot of work to do. Danny: Have you checked that it's plugged in properly at the back of the computer? Fred: Yes I have. Danny: Well in that case, let me remove the ball and have a look inside. Fred: OK, here you are, but please handle it with care. Danny: Just as I thought, it's full of fluff and dirt. I'll clean that out, put it back together again and it'll work as good as new. Fred: My hero! 丹尼：这一次又有什么问题了？ 弗雷德：别用这样的眼光望着我，我的鼠标失灵了，计算机无法使用，而我有很多工作要做。 丹尼：你有没有看过计算机后面的插头是否接好了？ 弗雷德：看过了。 丹尼：那么，待我把圆球拆下来，看看鼠标里面的状况。 弗雷德：好吧，鼠标在这里，请小心处理。 丹尼：果然如我所料，里面满是一团团的灰尘、污垢。我把这些清理后，再次装置好鼠标，操作起来就会和新的一样了。 弗雷德：你真了不起！ 首先请注意The mouse will work as good as new这一句。As good as是成语，意思是‘和……一样’，切勿望文生义，解作‘和……一样好’，例如：(1) Mary's husband left her more than twenty years ago. They are as good as divorced（玛丽的丈夫二十多年前弃她而去，两人几乎等同离婚了）。(2) When he was rushed to hospital, he was as good as dead（他被火速送到医院时，已和死人无异）。当然，as good as new由于是说‘和新的一样’，一般都有‘状况很好’的意思。 Let me remove the ball那一句的ball，则是指鼠标底部的圆球，即rolling ball（滚动圆球）。The ball rolls as the mouse moves on the mouse pad, and the pointer/arrow moves correspondingly on the computer screen即‘鼠标在鼠标垫上移动，圆球就同时滚动，计算机屏幕上的指针也会跟着走’。 鼠标一般会有两个按钮，叫做mouse button，例如：I pointed the arrow at the printer icon and clicked on the left mouse button（我把指标指向打印图符，按按鼠标左边按钮）。除了click on the button，你还可以hold down the button（按着钮不放）和release the button（不再把钮按着），例如：If you want to delete anything, hold down the left mouse button and drag the mouse to have it highlighted. Then release the button and press "delete"（要删除任何东西，可按着鼠标左边按钮，拖曳鼠标，点至要删除的东西，然后松手，按‘删除’）。 |
