![]() Brief introduction CEF During the Chinese-French Years, the French Embassy in China decided to establish an official institution - CELA (Center of Linguistic and Academic Evaluation) - to satisfy the needs of the increasing number of Chinese students wishing to pursue their higher education in France. Since March 2006, our name changed for CEF (Centre pour les Etudes en France): Center for Studies in France. All the students wishing to apply for a student visa must first pass through the CEF. However, CEF belongs to the Education department of the French Embassy and not to the Visa Service. We cooperate with EduFrance, hoping to see more Chinese students further their study in France. CEF’s purpose is to help the students with the procedures before applying for a student visa. For that, we offer advices and instructions to prepare materials, personal interviews with each student, and we answer everyday to all your questions on our website www.cefchine.org. “Going abroad”:Why study in France? Mr. Philippe CINQUINI: For the quality of the educational system: Internationally recognized diplomas, degrees, and certificates; 400 internationally renowned institutions of higher education and research; a system of accreditation that ensures quality education. France devotes almost 20 percent of its annual national budget to education–about 6,000 Euros per student! Domestic and international students are treated equally at French institutions of higher education. For scientific, industrial, and economic know-how: France is the source of technological marvels such as the high-speed train, the smart card, the Ariane rocket, and Airbus planes. France is also the world's fourth largest economy, home to world-class manufacturing groups such as Renault, Michelin, L'Oréal, Total, France Telecom, and Carrefour, and many thousands of promising start-ups and thriving smaller businesses. For the quality of French life: a superb system of public transportation, modern and affordable health care, cities in which you feel safe and secure. For culture and savoir-vivre: France has a long and rich cultural heritage, and a lively cultural scene featuring festivals, theater, fashion, and good eating. France produces 120 - 150 films a year, and Paris has the world's highest density of cinemas. For the language: French – the official language of almost 200 million people – opens doors in 47 countries on 5 continents. “Going abroad”: How Many international students in France? Mr. Philippe CINQUINI: Accepting international students is a tradition in France. In 2003-2004, 176 838 international students studied in the institutions of higher education in France. International students occupy 8.9% of the total students. International students have the same positions and pay the same university tuitions as the French students. They also have the equal rights in insurance, housing. |
