| Lounge isn't just music, it is a lifestyle, specific to the intellectuals and artistic types who only tend to understand it to the fullest. “Lounge bar is the ideal relaxing spot, just to chill out after strenuous working day”. That's how Ben Watt, mastermind of the popular band “Everything But The Girl”, describes the new European trend of restaurants and bars. Such a statement leaves an impression that lounge bars follow a bit elitistic concept, what is definitively true. A drink in a lounge bar amounts as two or three in a typical bar, food costs double then in “common” restaurants and the prices of the clothing might catch your sigh I bet. But the thing with the lounge bars is that elitism doesn't necessarily mean snobbism. System is irrelevant, while the essence of a lounge bar is relaxation among friends or colleagues. It wouldn't be the first or last accidental brainstorming gathering within the group of business colleagues. ![]() How does the lounge bar look like and what can you expect there? It is a large place consisting out of spacious lively restaurant, casual bar at the gallery with the view onto the restaurant and most likely the VIP salon. Music makes you to occasionally rock a little or just swing your head as the rhythm beats within you, but there is no such thing as dance. Youthful businessmen walk around the bar in suites or casual outfit, while the dishes at the menu are as trendy as the visitors themselves. Guests can enjoy the cocktails, fruit on the crashed rocks, cheese and spiced crackers but also very popular sushi. Today's In lounge bars were established in France, that had, its culture of long-lasting social suppers with the supreme gastronomic pleasure, set into completely new, modern ambient. If we add a fact to it, that some French DJs had made a big boom in Europe with their alluring retro-electronics called French touch, it is no wonder that the most popular lounge bars are in France. Buddha Bar, Man Ray or Alcazar became the symbols of the Parisian night life, soon received their doubles in other European and Overseas metropolises. Interior design of the lounge bar is left to the owner's and decorator’s taste, and every exaggeration in cosiness and style is very permitted and welcomed.Stars' favorite Man Ray, opened by Johnny Depp and Sean Penn, had awakened up sleepy Parisian Champs-Élysées and turned it into the center of the night entertainment. What once was a theater, situated in the quartier of the theater and TV production companies, today is an impressive place full of statues, with a large fountain in the middle of the restaurant, decorated in Japanese style with quite a few nuances of gold. Not far away from Champs-Élysées, there is as luxurious as most of them, true attraction to many, Mezannine/Alcazar, with less pretentious interior design message. It is divided into the restaurant and the bar-gallery almost the same as in Man Ray, but the decoration combines minimalistic forms, vivacious colors and varnished surfaces. |
