| Carl visits the doctor and goes through a checkup. The doctor tells him there doesn't seem to be anything seriously wrong, but he may have caught a touch of the flu. He also seems to be somewhat tired. The doctor writes a prescription for some medicine. Will this make Carl feel better? Doctor:Come in, please. I'm Dr. Evans. Carl:I'm Carl Mathews. Doctor: Have a seat. What seems to be the problem? Carl:I've lost a little weight recently, and I don't seem to have as much energy. My head and stomach were killing me yesterday. I might have had a fever, and I thought I ate something bad because I had the runs. Doctor:(checking Carl's file) Everything was fine your last checkup 3 months ago. Are you eating OK? Do you bring anything up? Carl:I'm eating fine, more or less. Last night, I thought I was going to vomit. Doctor: Do you sleep well? Carl:A little fitfully sometimes. This morning, I felt too sick to even get out of bed. Doctor:(after checking Carl's heartbeat, blood pressure, and temperature) Everything seems to be OK. Any other symptoms? Carl:No, nothing I can think of. I must say that things have been quite hectic around the office, recently. Doctor:I think you may have a touch of the flu that's going around. And you do seem a little tired. I'll give you a flu shot and I recommend you take some vitamin supplements. Try to take it easier at work for a while, too. Carl:Thanks, Doctor. Amber: This is a neat shop. There are so many fashionable clothes here. Ethabella: It's one of my favorite clothing stores. Check this out. (holds up a skirt) Amber: That's nice. How about this? (points to a pant suit) Would this style look good on me? Ethabella: Sure would. Why don't you try it? Amber: I think I will. (motions to a waiting saleslady) Can I try this on? Saleslady: Yes. The dressing room is right over there. (Amber goes to the dressing room, puts on the outfit, and steps out) Amber:(to Ethabella) How do I look? Does this make me look fat? Ethabella: No way. It really fits you well. Amber: I think I'll buy it. How about you? Did you try on the skirt? Ethabella: Yeah. It fits OK, but I noticed a lovely blouse on the way to the dressing room. Unfortunately, it doesn't match. (to the saleslady) Do you have this in other colors? (holding up the skirt) I need one that will go with the blouse. Saleslady: Yes, I believe we may have something for you. Let me check. (goes to the skirt rack and returns with two skirts, the same style but different colors) I think either of these would go well with the blouse. Ethabella: This one is perfect. By the way, what material is this skirt made of? And is it machine-washable? Saleslady: It's 80% cotton, 20% polyester, and yes, it is machine washable. Ethabella: OK, I'll take both of them. (hands the skirt and blouse to the saleslady) 让我们来看看在美国购物的典型场景吧。 Amber：这间店不错嘛。衣服都挺流行的。 Ethabella：这是我最喜欢的服装店之一。看看这件。（举起一条短裙） Amber：不错。这件怎么样？（指着一件女士套装）我穿这个会好看吗？ Ethabella：当然好看。为什么不试一下？ Amber：我也是这么想的。（向售货小姐示意）我可以试穿一下吗？ Saleslady：可以。试衣间就在那儿。 （Amber走进试衣间，穿上那套衣服后走了出来） Amber：( 面向Ethabella)看起来怎么样？我穿这个是不是显得有点胖呀？ Ethabella：不会的。非常合身。 Amber：我想买下它。你呢？你试了那件裙子了吗？ Ethabella：试了。很合身，但是我在去试衣间的路上发现了一件非常漂亮的衬衫。说实话，这条短裙的颜色和衬衫不搭配。（面对着售货小姐）这个有其他颜色的吗？(举起那件短裙 )我需要一条和这件衬衫配套。 Saleslady：可能有。让我看一看。（走到挂裙子的架子那儿拿了两件款式相同颜色各异的裙子）我想这两件都可以和这件衬衫搭配。 Ethabella：这条非常棒。顺便问一下，这条裙子是什么料子的？可以机洗吗？ Saleslady：有80%的棉，20%的聚酯纤维，可以用洗衣机洗。 Ethabella：好的，两件我都要了。（把裙子和衬衫一同递给了售货小姐） |
