5）except, except for, apart from, besides
except for表示“除…之外”。常放在句首。含有与句子所描述的事实相反的细节和特点的意思。
如：Except for several grammatical mistakes, his paper is excellent.他的论文除了几个语法错误之外非常好。
apart from=except for必须放在句首。Apart from (except for) his handwriting, the article is good.除了书写这篇文章很好。
except“除…之外”, 表示从整体中除去，不能放在句首。
如：None of us could swim except him.我们中除了他都不会游泳。
besides表示“除…之外还”。
如：What else are you going to do besides washing clothes? 除了洗衣服外你还准备干什么？

6）after, behind
表示空间位置时，两个词的意思都是“在…的后面”。
after 用于动态，意思是“在…之后，跟随”
如：Go after him.跟他走。
behind用于静态，意思是“在…的后面”
如：He sat behind me.他坐在我后面。

7）as, like
like作介词是“像…,如…”的意思。
如：The bag doesn’t look like mine.这个包看起来不像我的。
as作介词，表示“作为某种身份”。
如：As a teacher, he is always patient with his students.
作为一名教师，他总是对学生很耐心。

8) since, for
since+时间点，表示“从那一时刻起”事件开始发生，它通常要与现在完成时或过去完成时连用。
如：I have not seen him since two years ago.自从两年前我就没有见过他。
for+时间段，表示动作延续到说话的那一时刻。通常也和完成时连用。
如：I have lived there for a year.我在那已经住了一年了。
