(一) 重点词汇讲解
habit n.（动物的）栖息地，（植物的）产地 [例句] The polar bear's habit is the icy waters of the Arctic. [译文] 北极熊的栖息地是冰冷的北极海域。 endanger v.危害，使遭到危险 [例句] You will endanger your health if you work so hard. [译文] 如果你工作过度劳累，健康会受到损害。 extinct adj.灭绝的，绝种的 [例句] Dinosaurs have been extinct for millions of years. [译文] 恐龙已绝种几百年了。 adore v.崇拜；敬慕 [例句] He adores his elder brother. [译文] 他很爱他的哥哥。 somber adj.忧郁的；郁闷的 [例句] A funeral is a somber occasion. [译文] 葬礼是个忧郁的场合。 contradict v.反驳；否认；同．．．．．．矛盾 [例句] If you contradict me once more, you're fired. [译文] 你再顶撞我一次，我就解雇你！ (二) 核心短语讲解 1. use up/run out 用完，耗尽。 如：The paper has been used.纸都用完了。 2. even if即使。 通常引导让步状语从句， 如：You may lose the gameeven if you have great confidence.即使你们有很大的信心，你们也有可能输掉这场比赛。 3. continue to继续去做某事。 表示继续去做与目前所做的事情不同的另一件事情。continue doing表示继续去做同一件事情。 如：After the break,they continue to have English class.休息后，他们继续上英语课。（表示休息前上的不是英语课） 4. at least至少，起码。 如：He's going away for at least a week.他至少一星期出去一次。使用least的短语还有：least of all 尤其不，not least相当重要。 5. enable sb. to do sth.使某人能够做某事。 如：The use of computer enables us to do a lot of complex work. 计算机的使用使我们能够做许多许多复杂的工作。 6. be made of 用．．．．．．造成，制成。 用于原材料显而易见的场合。 如：This bottle is made of glass.这个瓶子是玻璃做的。 7. throw away扔掉，丢掉。 如：You should throw away the rubbish in the morning.你应该在早上丢掉垃圾。 8. break down 破坏，拆散，（机器）损坏。 如：Our truck broke down outside town.我们卡车在城外抛锚了。 9. on the wrong track搞错了，弄错了。 如：Both of the students are on the wrong track.两个学生全都弄错了。 10. put energy into 竭尽全力。 如：We should put our energy into solving this problem.我们应该尽力去解决这个问题。 11. pick up（用车等）去接。 如果宾语是代词，则要置于pick和up之间。 如：I'll go to pick him up in the station tomorrow morning.我明天上午将去火车站接他。 12.as...as和．．．．．．一样．．．．．．。 两个as之间使用形容词或副词的比较级。 如：I can run as fast as you can.我跑得和你一样快。 13. save from从．．．．．．中拯救出来。 如：We should take measures to save our planet from the serious pollution.我们应该采取措施把我们地球从严重的污染中拯救出来。 14. at the same time同时, 如:You are mainly responsible for the production,at the same time,you are responsible for the management.你主要负责生产,同时,你还负责管理。 15. keep in balance使．．．．．．保持平衡。 如：Our government tried to keep the input and output in balance.我们的政府努力使进口与出口保持平衡。 16. be concerned with关心，挂念。 如：All the students are concerned with the results of the exam very much.所有的学生都很关心考试的结果。 17. point to指向,指着。 如：All the criticism pointed to the newly-released act.所有的批评都指向新颁布的法案。 18. make a fuss小题大作，大惊小怪。 该动词短语通常与介词about或over搭配。 如：Don't make a fuss about it.This is very natural.不要对它大惊小怪。这是很自然的事情。 19. interfere with干涉，干预，妨碍，打扰。 如：Don't interfere with him. He's preparing for the final exams.他在为期末考试作准备，不要打扰他。 20. make a living谋生。 如：It's very hard for an illiterate to make a liiving in the big city.一个文盲在大城市中谋生是非常困难的。 |
