2011年考研英语备考：考研英语长难句中的分词

　　分词做定语：

　　1. Additional social stresses may also occur because of the population explosion or problems arising from mass migration movements -- themselves made relatively easy nowadays by modern means of transport.(2000-英译汉-75)

　　解析：这个句子的主句是Additional social stresses may also occur，为主谓结构，翻译为：“另外的社会压力也会发生。”because of the population explosion or problems arising from mass migration movements是原因状语从句，应该翻译在主句之前，“因为人口猛增或者由大量人口流动所造成的问题”，arising from mass migration movements分词做定语修饰problems。这个句子的关键是themselves指代什么，根据themselves后边成份的内容：“现代交通工具使……变得相对容易”知道所指为mass migration movements。所以调整下语序和修饰下词语，这句话比较后翻译为：“由于人口猛增或大量人口流动(现代交通工具使大量人口流动变得相对容易)所引起的各种问题也会对社会造成新的压力。
